Finally wrapped up my B-26K diorama this week after 7 months of work and thought I’d share some photos of it.
The kit is the ICM offering with pilots and ground crew. I added two Reskit OV-10 pilots as well. The diorama was inspired by two of my dad’s photos from his time at NKP in 1968-69.
The base is my design and printed on both FDM and SLA printers.
The basic kit is extensively modified. Beyond all the mods for the flak damage, I added the Quinta Studios 3D decals for the cockpits – after painting the quilting gray, Resin2Design pilot seats and yokes, new nose and wingtip tanks from EBay seller, wheels from Hypersonic and a CMK fire extinguisher. I made molds and cast the front canopy to pose it open, designed and printed the canopy arms, made cowl flaps and the carburetor intake valve from aluminum sheet, added brake lines, fuel dump masts in the nacelles, wiring for the radios and corrected the seat in the observer station, and corrected the anti-sway braces. Static wicks via EZline. I also printed the windshield wipers from a file off Cults3D. Markings and walk ways painted using my masks. Whew!
