Hasegawa 1/32 OA-4M

Hasegawa 1/32 OA-4M

Greetings my fellow Geeks!  Apologies for the delay, but here are a few pics of my recently finished Hasegawa 1/32 OA-4M Hi-Grade kit.  It was a long road to get to the finish line, but I’m happy she is done.

I added a few scratch built and aftermarket items including scratch built cockpit bulkheads, floorboards, and rear deck sections, as well as Black Box seats and oxygen hoses.  The Zuni Rocket pods are from Reskit and the gun barrels are from Master Model.  Remove Before Flight tags are Verlinden dry transfers.

I painted the model with Gunze Aqueous colors which are the absolute perfect shade of gray.  Weathering was done using the airbrush and I used several shades of gray, brown, and black to achieve the weathered appearance.  Panel lines were highlighted with various shades of Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color.  I really had fun painting this thing.

Decals are from Furball (thanks a million Geoff for doing this sheet…) and they were perfect.  No real issues at all.

Some of the highlights of the kit are general fit, especially the wing root fit. In fact, it was almost perfect.  The landing gear was great as well.  I was really happy with the fit of the clear parts.  The windscreen and canopy were a near perfect fit and had zero issues.  Also, the conversion parts which are supplied in the kit using plastic, PE, and metal parts, all fit very well.

A few downsides of the kit was the sparse cockpit, blanked off intakes, and the gun inserts.  I have yet to see an A-4 kit in any scale that nails the gun inserts.  Every kit has this problem and it takes a few filling and sanding sessions to get it right.  Even with a few problem areas, I still enjoyed the kit and I’m happy to have a 1/32 OA-4M in my display case again!

Well, I hope you enjoy the pics.  Maybe one of these days I’ll learn how to take quality pics, but until then, I hope these will suffice.  Thanks again for supporting us Geeks and happy modeling!
