CVW-14 was on Independence before their cruise on Carl Vinson.  The air wing was just a little different from your list but the numbers would likely be about the same.  Search some pictures for typical spotting on the flight deck hangar deck.  And ensure nothing is crossing a foul line and wings always folded/swept unless on the cat or in the wires.

According to this website and my memory:  http://www.gonavy.jp/CVW-NKf.html

  • VF-11 (modex 1xx) would have taken 10 F-14D Tomcats, as well as her sister squadron, VF-31 (2xx).  Typically 1-2 from each on the hangar deck and rest on the flight deck.
  • VFA-113 (3xx) and VFA-25 (4xx) would have 12 F/A-18C each.  Typically 2x each on the hanger deck and rest on the flight deck.
  • VA-196 (5xx) would have both the A-6E(TRAM) and K-A6D (tanker aka in-flight refueling).  If memory serves me, 8x E and 4x D.
  • VAW-113 (60x) would have 4x E-2C.  Typically 1 on the hangar deck.
  • HS-8 (61x) would have 6x SH-60F and 2x HH-60H.  One on the hangar deck (you choose which type).
  • VAQ-139 (62x) would have 4 EA-6B.  One on the hangar deck.
  • VS-35 (7xx) would likely have 8 S-3B.  Some would be configured as tankers.  1-2 on the hangar deck.
  • VQ-5 Det B (72x) would have flown the ES-3A.  Just the 2, generally always on the flight deck unless time-phased maintenance was required.
  • VRC-50 would be flying a single C-2A to the ship.  During that period they may have also had the US-3A.  The unit was shore based and only flew to the ship for COD, transferred PAX and cargo, then went back ashore.  The detachment personnel were there to turn around the aircraft and make repairs if something broke.  If you show it, park it next to the island just clear of the landing area, tail pointed towards the aft end of the island at an angle of about 45*.  It would be unloading or loading.

I was on the ’84 deployment of CVW-11 and Enterprise. http://www.gonavy.jp/CVW-NHf.html

  • VF-114 and VF-213 each had 12 F-14A with 2 of each detached to Cubi Pt, Philippines during the deployment.
  • VA-22 (I was assigned to this squadron) and VA-94 each had 12 A-7E with 2 of each detached to Cubi Pt.  VA-22 had 8 aircraft with a FLIR Pod on the starboard inner pylon.
  • VA-95 had both the A-6E (8) and KA-6D (4).  2x A-6E TRAM and 1x KA-6D were detached to Cubi Pt.
  • VAW-117 had 4x E-2C with one detached to Cubi Pt.
  • HS-6 had 8x SH-3H with 1-2 at Cubi Pt.
  • VS-21 had 8x S-3A with 2x at Cubi Pt.
  • VQ-1 had a single EA-3B.  It usually took off on the first event and recovered on the last event unless it was a long flight schedule.
  • VRC-50 had the C-2A and US-3A, one each making a trip to the ship daily.  Sometimes a 2nd delivery of cargo only if we needed a critical repair item.
