Once the cockpit was finished and inside the fuselage the remaining construction went quite quickly. The most difficult part was temporarily gluing the canopies in place just to ensure they fit. While down in Florida I decided to check a local Hobby Lobby and was able to find the correct underside “duck egg blue” color…
Lots of progress last couple of days. Once the pilots were done the fuselage came together quickly. Guy in back is at the controls.
After 31 steps the cockpit is finished. I used AK markers throughout, these are a game changer for me as it speeds up my builds quite a bit. I will admit that I prefer the brush-like tip of the Game Markers better. Now for the pilots.
For March Madness I chose the Airfix 1/48 Spitfire TR.9. The build appears straightforward and the detail is superb. I’ve made some progress, painting the cockpit and interior details. I’m modeling the Spitfire I flew in, which is the sole TR.8 built, serial MT818. It will of course be painted in the scheme she wore…
