This has been a quick and easy build. I had to wait for some paint to mix the correct greens, now that it’s arrived painting can continue. I’m still touching up little details. The deck and island are not cemented yet. They will be last as I bring all the painted assemblies together.

FYI, one reference says the flight deck was a pink color due to the crushed red brick used to cover the deck with a non-skid surface. I’m using Tamiya’s recommended colors simply because they make more sense than a pink. If anything I’d expect the IJN to paint the flight deck with shades of greens, grays and black as their other carriers were by late 1944.
